In 2016, I embarked on a transformative journey as a spoken word motivator, marking the inception of what would evolve into a groundbreaking venture in the realm of motivational music, a genre I pioneered. My initial efforts culminated in the creation of two motivational albums: "Prove Yourself (Go Get It)" and "Prove Yourself (Fight)", both originally slated for release in 2021 alongside my book, Prove Yourself: Twelve Essential Keys To Rise In Business and Life. The second edition of the book was released in 2023.
However, this journey proved to be dynamic and ever-evolving. Over the subsequent years, I expanded my vision, adding a third motivational album, "JamaicHer", and enhancing the content of the accompanying book. Though this evolution caused a delay in the release, it ultimately led to the birth of the Prove Yourself Trilogy Soundtrack, solidifying motivational music as a new genre that emerged from the vibrant cultural experience of Jamaica.
The creative process spanned over three years, requiring a delicate balance of infusing original harmonies into the spoken word format. This project involved collaborations with numerous artists, all under the umbrella of Prove Yourself Music and Prove Yourself Management & Productions (PYMP). Our mission extended beyond bringing this vision to life; we sought to create a platform for other artists to contribute to the growth of this groundbreaking genre.
As a motivational artist and executive producer, my goal is to offer content that "Me-Up"—leaving fans Motivated, Engaged, and Uplifted. The trilogy of albums, comprising 24 tracks—22 featuring compelling motivational lyrics and 2 showcasing powerful instrumental riddims—promises an immersive auditory experience.
Drawing on the talents of emerging artists from Kingston, Jamaica, and Miami, Florida, the albums feature a diverse array of beats, from new-age Hip Hop, Rap, and R&B to Trap, Dancehall, and Reggae. The sonic landscape was meticulously crafted by Veer V Dhaniram, a renowned touring engineer for Stephen Marley based in Miami, USA, and Jay Edge of Jaw Records, an innovative music producer from Kingston, Jamaica.
These albums pay homage to the rich legacies of Spoken Word, Reggae, Dancehall, Blues, Hip Hop/Rap, and R&B. The name Buff Bay Son was chosen with deep significance—it symbolizes my commitment to remembering my humble beginnings and my steadfast dream of seeing Buff Bay and Portland rise, contributing to Jamaica’s cultural ascent.
